“Me Time” – for Home School Parents
Home school parents, how are you doing?
I was a home school parent as long as I could be, and then life sent me a different direction. I remember, very well, though what it’s like to be “on” all the time. That’s what home school parents do.
So, I’m here to remind you, to take some “me time” each day. If your children are very young, then work something out with another home school parent, or your partner/spouse. You need this time to rejuvenate, to reset yourself, to remember who you are. Or steal a few quiet moments first thing in the morning before anyone else is up. That’s a very peaceful time of day.
Before you became a parent, you were a person with interests and self-awareness. Try to get back in touch with that person just a little bit every day. It will make you stronger and better for your family, and all that you do. It will help you keep perspective. You can just sit and think over a cup of coffee. You can journal or compose poetry. You can listen to music you love, or let yourself make art. Whatever it is, you need to do this.
It doesn’t require a lot of time – just enough to remember yourself. Then you can jump back into your busy home school life with gusto.
