Resilience: Radiolab on Stress

August 19, 2010

I can’t stress enough how important it is to manage your stress levels.   I swear, the moment kids pick up on the fact that you are stressed, they turn into piranha.  It’s like they smell blood.  So, getting a good handle on personal and professional stress is vital to excellent teaching.

One place to begin is to really have a good understanding of what your body is doing when it is ‘stressed.  I found this marvelous piece on stress through public radio’s ‘Radiolab.’  It’s truly one of my favorite radio shows, and if you are a teacher and not aware of Radiolab, you really should treat yourself to an episode.
