Book Discussion Group – Courage to Teach

April 27, 2010

Melisa and I were talking late last week, and came up with an idea that we should host a book discussion group for educators.  We are still working out the details, but it’s looking like we will do this over the summer.

The book we have chosen is Courage to Teach by Parker Palmer.  I was at Powell’s Books over the weekend, and there are several good quality used copies there.  Stay tuned for more details.

If you are not familiar with the work, it is a book about why we teach – it is motivational.  For some of us, summer is an excellent time to get revved back up for the coming year, and this book would certainly provide that kind of guidance.

Is anyone interested? (This is just to do a straw poll and see if anyone wants to join us – not a commitment.)  If you are outside of the local Portland area, perhaps we can work out an online discussion. We’d love to have you join us!

Started reading the book a while back. Would love an excuse to read it through.
